FOKE Family Film Night - Monday 27th November 2017

posted 15 Nov 2017, 02:22 by Linn Hoggins

Friends of King Edward look forward to welcoming you and your children to our Family Film Night.  This year, we will be screening ‘The Nativity’.

Tickets are £2.00 each for adults and £1.00 each for children.  Tickets are limited and this event is very popular so please be quick in purchasing your tickets.  As our film night takes place in the small dining hall within school, we will not be able to add additional tickets so when they’re gone, they’re gone!

Tickets go on sale 8.30am on Thursday 15th November 2017 and will be sold on a first come first served basis.  Please purchase your tickets directly from the main school office and bring the correct change wherever possible.  If you are not able to make it into school at open of sale, you are welcome to phone the school office to reserve your tickets.  We would then ask that you make payment and collect your tickets by the end of the following day, or they will be put back into circulation for general resale.

Children must be accompanied by an adult and we have a limit of four children per one adult.  Siblings of children who attend the school are also welcome to attend, but the event is for the families of King Edward Primary School only.  We would be grateful if you could exercise discretion in bringing small children and babies.

We recommend that you bring something comfy to sit on; a blanket, bean bag or perhaps a camping chair.  If you are happy to, please feel free to wear onesies and pyjamas, we all do!

We will be selling refreshments and popcorn for you to enjoy and to raise funds for FOKE, however, you are welcome to bring your own too.

Doors open at 5.30pm and the film will start at approximately 5.45pm.

We hope you have a great time and thank you again

for your support.

Nursery Parents/Carers

posted 10 Nov 2017, 06:13 by Linn Hoggins

Dear Nursery Parents and carers,

Nursery will be starting Monday Forest School sessions after half term. These sessions will be carried out on a rota basis in six - eight week blocks. This will ensure that every child in nursery can take part before the end of the school year.

Forest School is a fun, exciting way to learn in an outdoor setting such as a woodland. It is proven to improve children’s confidence, self-esteem and communication skills, as well as giving them an opportunity to have lots of fun in a much different way to which they are used to in nursery. The children also develop skills in team work, using tools safely and learning to look after our woodlands.

Children learn best from first hand experiences. Exploring, playing and so learning using a range of activities (both designed by the leader and instigated by the children themselves) is what Forest School is all about.

Forest School will happen in all weathers (unless it is VERY windy or icy!), so please make sure your child has suitable clothes for the weather. Rain will not cause a cancellation unless accompanied by high winds. They will need warm clothes, suitable footwear such as wellies or boots, and a waterproof coat. They WILL get dirty so please only send your children to school on their allocated day in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. We will let you know when it is your child’s turn for their block of sessions.

The activities will be led by Mrs Herzberg who is currently undertaking her Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification. Mrs Herzberg is also qualified in paediatric and outdoor first aid.

Should there be any queries, please do not hesitate to speak with Mrs Herzberg.

Year 4 visit to Hindu Temple - Monday 27th November 2017

posted 6 Nov 2017, 02:19 by Linn Hoggins

As part of our Religious Education this term, we have been studying the Hindu faith.  Therefore, we have been very fortunate in being invited to visit the Hindu Temple in Newcastle on Monday 27th November 2017.  We will leave school at 10.00 am and return at approximately 2.15 pm.

This is a unique opportunity to enhance our understanding of a different faith and experience first hand how Hindu people worship, celebrate and conduct their daily lives.

The children will have lunch whilst at the temple and therefore will NOT require a packed lunch.  The meal will consist of rices, naan breads and a mild tomato and cheese based curry.  This will be followed by ice-cream and a drink.  (The children visiting the temple last year thought the meal was delicious!).

One of the activities the children will be taking part in is face painting.  The products used are all water based.

The children will be travelling by coach and a voluntary contribution of £9.00 would be appreciated to cover the cost of the coach, the activities and lunch at the temple.

Please complete the online permission form below.

Thank you
