Out of School Club - Gateway Booking System

posted 5 Jun 2019, 07:05 by Linn Hoggins

Wednesday 5th June 2019

Dear Parent/Carer

As you know, we moved to the School Gateway method of booking and payments for Out of School Club (OOSC) on Monday.  We would like to thank all the parents who have started using Gateway or have already been in touch to resolve any queries.

We would like to remind parents that all bookings must now be made using School Gateway.  For a reminder of how to book and pay using School Gateway, please click here.

We appreciate that this is a new system and that parents and staff are both adjusting to the change.  If you are unable to access Gateway, or are having trouble making a booking, we urge you to contact school where a member of staff will be happy to help.

From Monday 10th June, we will be using the School Gateway system exclusively to create registers for OOSC.  Any historic / recurring bookings will not be considered.  It is vital that you book any sessions you wish your child to attend in Gateway to allow us to allocate appropriate staffing to the club.

If you do not book Breakfast Club, we will only be able to accept your child into the club if there is adequate staffing on the day.  If a space is available, staff will manually add the charge for the session to your Gateway account to be paid when you next make a booking.

If you do not book After School Club, we will not know that you want your child to attend OOSC and your child will therefore not be collected by OOSC staff at the end of the school day.  Any children not collected at the end of the school day will be brought to the school office and we will contact parents to determine their end of day arrangements.

We appreciate that circumstances may arise unexpectedly which result in you needing to make an emergency booking after the booking deadline (12.00pm the day before the club).  In this event, please contact OOSC or the school office.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Yours sincerely

Catering Services need to speak to you directly so in addition to advising the school of your child’s allergies you must also contact North Tyneside Council’s Catering Services Team to arrange an appointment to discuss your child’s specific dietary requirements.

King Edward Primary Working with Go Smarter

posted 17 May 2019, 06:58 by Linn Hoggins

We are working with North Tyneside’s Go Smarter team to try and make the school a safer and healthier place. We would like to get people travelling actively to school by walking, cycling and scooting so that we can get healthier bodies and minds. We are trying to make the area around school safer for all our children by keeping cars away from the school gates. This will also reduce the pollution we have to breathe in.

To help with that, we are encouraging everyone to cycle, scoot or walk to and from school if possible as part of Healthy Living Week next week. We are also having a ‘Car free day’ at school on Thursday 23rd May. If you can, we would love it if people could leave their cars at home. If you need to bring a car please try to park it away from the school.

Dr Bike will be visiting on this day so if you can bring in your children’s bikes he will check them over and fix things if possible. This might help get bikes working again and save some money buying a new one! There will be other fun activities going on in school during the day too.

Thanks for you help!

Healthy Living Week - Monday 20th May 2019 - Friday 24th May 2019

posted 7 May 2019, 05:08 by Linn Hoggins

Dear Parents / Carers

We are having a Healthy Living Week beginning Monday 20th May.  Many exciting events will take place throughout the week to promote the benefits of keeping healthy.

Children are allowed to come to school wearing sports clothes for the whole week apart from Sports Day on Wednesday 22nd May when the children can come to school in their PE kits. Key Stage 2 children (Y3-Y6) will be in the morning at 9.30am and Key Stage 1 children (Reception-Y2) in the afternoon at 2.00pm.  If children could remember to bring water bottles and sun hats if the weather is warm.  Sun cream should be applied before the start of the school day.

In addition to Sports Day, there are a number of different activities taking place all week.  Some of the events taking place are:

  • Inflatable assault course (sponsored event)
  • No Car Day with Go Smarter
  • Sports/fitness sessions with volunteer parents
  • Sports/fitness sessions with external coaches
  • Cycling proficiency sessions
  • Dentist visit

The children will be encouraged to walk, scoot or cycle to school every day that week and a tally will be taken each day.  The child in each class who walks, scoots or cycles to school the most will receive a prize.

Many thanks
