Year 4 - High Borrans Adventure - Monday 16th April to Friday 20th April 2018

Dear Parent/Carers

During their time at King Edward Primary School we hope that every child will take the opportunity to come with us on an exciting adventure at High Borrans in the Lake District. These trips have always been a great success, with children enjoying themselves and being thrilled at achieving new things. Most are eager to go again if given the chance. This year we are trying something new for the Year 4 trip. We have booked a mid-week trip from Monday the 16th to Friday the 20th of April instead of a weekend. This will mean the children will get a chance to recover over the weekend after their return instead of coming straight back into school the next day. It also means we can fit in more activities but at a more leisurely pace for them. Aside from enjoying the beauties of the Lake District itself, activities can include some canoeing on the Tarn, orienteering, the Ropes course, Ghyll scrambling, visiting the tunnels of Cathedral Cavern, walks in the hills etc. Some of these take place on site and some in the countryside elsewhere. We will help develop the children’s sense of independence and confidence and social skills too.

If you wish to know more I will be holding a meeting for parents/carers next Wednesday (Feb 7th) in the KS2 Downstairs Hall at 5.00pm. I will share more about what High Borrans is like and the sort of activities we do and you can ask any questions you may have about it.

The overall cost of the week will be £250. This cost covers all transport for the week, food, accommodation, instructors, equipment etc.

If you would like your child to be given the opportunity to attend this course please complete the online form by Wednesday February 21st 2018. In the event of over-subscription, children's names will be drawn in accordance with the High Borrans protocol for selection. If your child is successful in their application for this trip, you will be notified.

Yours faithfully,
Alan Henderson
